Steven Yeun is heading back to the world of elemental bending. The Oscar‑nominated actor has officially signed on for Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies’ untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender animated feature, marking his return to the franchise after voicing the Fire Nation prince in The Legend of Korra.

According to Variety, plot details remain under wraps, but the project is one of several big‑screen adventures being developed by Avatar Studios, the production banner spearheaded by series creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

A familiar voice for fans

Yeun last visited the universe in 2013, lending his voice to Wan, the first Avatar, during the critically acclaimed “Beginnings” two‑parter. His performance quickly became a fan favorite, making his comeback a welcome surprise to longtime viewers.

The growing Avatar slate

The new film is part of a broader expansion that includes multiple animated movies and a live‑action Netflix series. Paramount has already dated the first theatrical installment for 10 October 2025, with Lauren Montgomery (Voltron: Legendary Defender) directing.

Yeun’s busy schedule

Fresh off his Emmy‑winning turn in Netflix’s Beef, Yeun recently wrapped production on Jordan Peele’s mystery project Noir. He will also appear in Marvel’s Thunderbolts in 2026.

With his return to the Avatar universe, Yeun adds another high‑profile role to an already packed calendar—and gives fans plenty to look forward to when the elements unite on the big screen next year.
