CinemaCon unveiled exciting casting news Monday in Las Vegas, officially confirming the stars of director Sam Mendes’ ambitious Beatles biopic project. In a unique cinematic approach, Mendes is bringing four separate films to theaters simultaneously—each told from the distinct perspective of a Beatles member.
Paul Mescal is stepping into the shoes of Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan will embody Ringo Starr, Joseph Quinn is set as George Harrison, and Harris Dickinson will portray John Lennon.
Taking the stage at CinemaCon, the actors delighted attendees by quoting lines from the iconic Beatles track “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” declaring together: “It’s wonderful to be here, it’s certainly a thrill, you’re such a lovely audience, we’d like to take you home with us.”
Describing the project as cinema’s first-ever “bingeable moviegoing experience,” Mendes announced that all four films are slated for release in the same month, April 2028. Though he confirmed there’s a recommended viewing order, the celebrated director kept the precise sequence under wraps, leaving fans intrigued.
Casting rumors had previously swirled around these actors, bolstered by leaks and accidental confirmations. Last year, Ringo Starr himself revealed Barry Keoghan would portray him, while legendary director Ridley Scott inadvertently confirmed Paul Mescal’s role as Paul McCartney during promotions for “Gladiator II.”
This innovative storytelling format is expected to offer Beatles enthusiasts and film lovers alike an unprecedented cinematic event, providing fresh perspectives on the legendary band’s storied history.
