The prestigious Cannes Film Festival has revealed its official 2025 lineup, showcasing an impressive roster of filmmakers, including Wes Anderson, Kelly Reichardt, Julia Ducournau, and Ari Aster.

Juliette Binoche is set to lead the main competition jury, responsible for awarding the coveted Palme d’Or and other prestigious prizes. With strong international attendance anticipated, the festival returns as a major hub for the film industry’s award season kick-off.

Among the highly anticipated competition entries is Anderson’s “The Phoenician Scheme,” premiering shortly before its May 30 theatrical release by Focus Features. Ari Aster’s Western-influenced film “Eddington” marks A24’s return to competition.

The competition features six female directors: Kelly Reichardt presents “The Mastermind,” Julia Ducournau competes with “Alpha,” Mascha Schilinski offers “Sound of Falling,” Hafsia Herzi introduces “La Petite Dernière,” Chie Hayakawa contributes with “Renoir,” and Carla Simón presents “Romeria.”

Other notable competition entries include Richard Linklater’s cinema-centric drama “Nouvelle Vague,” Jafar Panahi’s secretly filmed “A Simple Accident,” Joachim Trier’s anticipated “Sentimental Value,” and Oliver Hermanus’s “The History of Sound,” starring Josh O’Connor and Paul Mescal.

Opening the festival on May 13 is the French drama “Leave One Day,” directed by Amélie Bonnin.

Additional screenings include the blockbuster premiere of “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning,” starring Tom Cruise, alongside special screenings and premieres such as Ethan Coen’s midnight entry “Honey Don’t!” and Andrew Dominik’s “Bono: Stories of Surrender.”

With record feature submissions this year, more titles are expected to be announced closer to the festival.
