Mark Ruffalo and Natalie Portman have both found success in multiple film genres—including rom-coms—and now they’re set to return to their romantic comedy roots in a new Netflix movie titled Good Sex, directed by Lena Dunham.
Netflix shared the intriguing premise on social media:
“Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo and Tucker Pillsbury (Role Model) will star in the Lena Dunham rom-com, GOOD SEX. After a decade in a failed relationship, Ally turns 40 and reenters the New York dating scene. She’ll meet two men — one in his twenties and one in his fifties — who show her there’s no set formula for good sex.”
The unique twist on the love-triangle concept—with Ally navigating relationships with partners of significantly different ages—promises a fresh take on romantic comedy conventions.
Dunham, well-known for tackling intimate and honest stories in HBO’s Girls, will bring her distinct perspective to this story, which should blend humor and realism around themes of dating and intimacy.
Ruffalo is beloved in the rom-com space for films like 13 Going on 30 and Just Like Heaven, while Portman charmed audiences in romantic films such as Garden State and No Strings Attached. Pairing these two talented actors together, along with Dunham’s creative approach, makes Good Sex an eagerly awaited release.
