After nearly three decades of stunning action sequences and thrilling espionage, Tom Cruise has officially confirmed that the Mission: Impossible franchise is concluding with the upcoming Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning. Cruise confirmed the news at the film’s New York premiere, making it clear that the title is definitive:

“It’s the final! It’s not called ‘final’ for nothing.”

However, Cruise’s announcement doesn’t signal the end of his acting career. On the contrary, he shared ambitious plans to continue making movies for decades to come. Inspired by actors like Harrison Ford, Cruise explained:

“I actually said I’m going to make movies into my 80s. Actually, I’m going to make them into my 100s. I will never stop. I will never stop doing action, I will never stop doing drama, comedy films. I’m excited.”

Reflecting on his journey through the Mission: Impossible series, Cruise expressed appreciation for what the franchise has taught him:

“Everything that I’ve learned and continue to learn about storytelling, about life, about leadership, about character and every aspect of filmmaking. It’s been exceptional.”

While Final Reckoning marks the conclusion for Ethan Hunt, Cruise’s enthusiasm suggests audiences have plenty more to look forward to from the legendary star in future projects. Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning releases in theaters on Friday.
