The Grabber is back and he’s deadlier than ever.
In the unsettling new trailer for Scott Derrickson’s horror sequel Black Phone 2, Ethan Hawke returns as the mask-wearing child killer known as the Grabber, haunting his surviving victims from beyond the grave.
Fans will remember the 2022 original, where young Finn (Mason Thames) was held captive by the Grabber and rescued thanks to the prophetic dreams of his sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw). Now, years later, Gwen’s dreams have become nightmares as the killer manipulates her visions, seeking vengeance on the siblings who brought him down.
In the chilling preview, Finn confronts the Grabber, who ominously declares: “Dead is just a word.” The terror spills into reality as Gwen is violently attacked in her dreams, the wounds translating physically to her waking life, with sinister imagery such as the Grabber skating menacingly across snow, ax in hand.
Jeremy Davies returns as Finn and Gwen’s abusive father, Terrence, alongside newcomers Demián Bichir, Arianna Rivas, Miguel Mora, Maev Beaty, and Graham Abbey. Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill again co-write the screenplay, based on characters by Joe Hill. Blumhouse’s Jason Blum serves as producer, ensuring audiences another psychological horror thrill.
Black Phone 2 will haunt theaters on October 17.
