Prime Video’s latest original action-comedy movie, Deep Cover, has made a striking debut, earning an unexpected perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score based on initial reviews from critics.

Directed by British comedy veteran Tom Kingsley (Ghosts, Stath Lets Flats), Deep Cover follows three improv comedy performers unexpectedly drawn into London’s dangerous criminal underworld. The cast includes Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean), Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso), Ian McShane (John Wick), Paddy Considine (MobLand), Sonoya Mizuno (House of the Dragon), and Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings).

The screenplay was co-written by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, alongside his frequent collaborator Derek Connolly and British comedians Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen, known collectively as “The Pin.”

Critics have praised Deep Cover primarily for its humor, ensemble cast, and the energetic performances, particularly highlighting Bloom’s surprisingly intense comedic turn. ScreenRant’s Ben Sherlock noted that the movie succeeds best in absurd situations, calling it “a fun ride,” despite describing it as somewhat forgettable.

Peter Bradshaw from The Guardian similarly praised the movie’s entertainment value, particularly noting the comedic strengths of Mohammed, Ashenden, and Owen, who provide many of the film’s highlights. Bradshaw characterized the film as a likable and entertaining action-comedy with a fun premise, though he acknowledged uneven comedic performances among the leads.

Though reviews have generally been positive, averaging around three to four stars out of five, the film’s perfect Rotten Tomatoes score could still fluctuate as more critics weigh in. Nevertheless, the current positive reception exceeds initial expectations for Prime Video’s latest original project.

Deep Cover is available to stream on Prime Video starting June 12, 2025.
