Pixar recently shared updates about two upcoming projects during the Annecy animation conference, presented by Pete Docter.
Toy Story 5: New Character Revealed
Pixar provided new information about Toy Story 5, which will be written and directed by Andrew Stanton. The upcoming film introduces a new character named Lillypad, who is a tablet representing technology. The plot revolves around Bonnie becoming increasingly interested in technology, sparking tension between traditional toys and modern devices.
Pixar Introduces Original Film “Gatto”
Pixar also announced a completely original film titled Gatto, set for a 2027 release. Directed by Enrico Casarosa, who previously directed Pixar’s Luca, the film centers around Nero, a black cat living in Venice who is afraid of water. Nero owes a debt to a feline mob boss and eventually forms an unexpected friendship with a street musician. Pixar also shared early concept art for the movie during the presentation.
Both films reflect Pixar’s ongoing blend of beloved franchises and new storytelling concepts.
