HBO has officially kicked off production on its highly anticipated Harry Potter live-action series, filming at the renowned Leavesden Studios in the U.K., the original home of the movie franchise. The network unveiled the first image of Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, sporting the familiar round glasses and lightning scar, along with an updated Gryffindor uniform featuring new design details.

Joining McLaughlin are Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, forming the beloved central trio. Additional cast announcements include Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander. They join previously revealed high-profile actors, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

The series is led by writer and showrunner Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod directing multiple episodes. J.K. Rowling serves as an executive producer and has been actively involved in the script approval process. Production for the first season will run through Spring 2026, with the second season scheduled to follow shortly after. The series is set to premiere in 2027, adapting one novel per season and promising fans a faithful, detailed exploration of the beloved books.
