CinemaCon 2025 delivered thrilling news for fans of the iconic assassin John Wick, revealing that Keanu Reeves will once again reprise his beloved role in John Wick: Chapter 5. Additionally, Reeves will lend his voice to an exciting animated prequel that explores the character’s origins.
During the Lionsgate panel at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Reeves joined producers Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and franchise director Chad Stahelski to announce the highly anticipated sequel. Adam Fogelson, chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, emphasized that the team would only return if they had something “truly phenomenal and fresh” to offer, expressing great enthusiasm for the continuation of Wick’s intense journey.
Producers Iwanyk and Lee underscored the importance of carefully shaping John Wick’s narrative, noting that getting the story right is critical to the saga’s integrity.
Lionsgate also unveiled plans for a groundbreaking animated film, directed by Shannon Tindle, set to explore Wick’s legendary “Impossible Task,” the night when he eliminated all his rivals, thereby securing freedom from the High Table and the chance to be with Helen, the love of his life.
Director Chad Stahelski, known for his passion for anime, sees immense potential in this medium, envisioning the animated film as an innovative way to further enrich the vibrant, action-packed John Wick universe.
Since debuting in 2014, Reeves has starred in multiple sequels (2017, 2019, and 2023), expanding the franchise into various spin-offs like The Continental series and the upcoming movie Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas and featuring a cameo by Reeves himself.
