Marvel’s latest film, “Thunderbolts*,” has arrived, and it’s quickly becoming a highlight on the 2025 movie calendar. The film has been warmly received by both critics and fans, particularly for Florence Pugh’s standout performance. However, one of the most talked-about moments comes from its intriguing post-credits scene, which, remarkably, was directed by the Russo Brothers.

Director Jake Schreier revealed in an interview with Variety that Joe and Anthony Russo stepped in to helm the pivotal post-credits scene. The scene jumps 14 months ahead, showing the Thunderbolts—now referred to as the New Avengers—dealing with a legal dispute initiated by Sam Wilson (Captain America) and an ominous situation unfolding in outer space. The sequence culminates in a mysterious distress call from an interdimensional craft marked with a “4,” teasing the highly anticipated introduction of the Fantastic Four into the MCU.

Schreier expressed amazement at the swift production turnaround, noting the scene was shot merely four weeks ago on the set of the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday,” which had only recently begun filming. He emphasized the significance of seeing his characters transition to the larger scale of the Russo Brothers’ film.

“Thunderbolts*” fans now eagerly anticipate further developments as “Avengers: Doomsday” moves forward in production, featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. This collaboration indicates a major shift within the MCU, promising exciting interactions between the original Avengers and the newly established New Avengers team.
