Director Colin Trevorrow and actor-producer Ryan Reynolds are teaming up for a new conspiracy thriller centered around the infamous Area 51. Paramount Pictures is behind the untitled film, with Trevorrow directing and producing, and Reynolds attached as a producer through his company, Maximum Effort.
Set in the late 1980s, the film follows a local Las Vegas TV journalist who first brings the Area 51 story into public awareness. The script was written by Thomas and William Wheeler, who will also serve as executive producers.
The project represents a return to Trevorrow’s roots, reminiscent of his early indie success with Safety Not Guaranteed. Reynolds’ involvement promises to add charm and humor to the thriller’s mysterious premise.
No casting has been announced yet, but the combination of Trevorrow and Reynolds makes this Area 51-inspired film one to watch closely.
